Curb appeal in real estate circles is known as “the aesthetic charm of a house when first seen from the road,” according to UrbanDictionary.com.

And it’s among the most important features of a home that is for sale because if it is unpleasant on the outside more often than not buyers are going to be put-off right from the get-go and keep on driving.

On the flip side, if there are any negative aspects in the interior of a home great curb appeal helps offset those deficiencies. Rehabbers and flippers often make the mistake of neglecting the exterior or skimping on the budget because it is not deemed priority.

Big mistake.

Put simply, curb appeal is an important aspect that can never be overlooked, especially if you want a house or renovation project to move fast on the market.

Here are some outside areas to keep in mind:

Landscaping

Porches

Fences

Mailboxes

Lighting

House color

Windows

Walkways

Driveways

In addition, JournalNow.com issued a few tips and pointers for sellers to consider when marketing their properties. Check it out:

Start with the front door

Make sure your house looks clean

Spiff up the hardware

Buy or make some window boxes

Use exterior lighting

Make sure that your yard is tidy

Prune overgrown trees and bushes

Declutter the yard

Repair and clean the driveway

Indeed, renovating a home is more than just installing granite counter tops and hardwood floors. There are numerous projects that all need time and attention to ensure that the project is completed correctly.

And the “curb appeal” should be at the top of the list.
